In 2006, after several years of looking for accommodation properties, we decided on a new apartment complex to be built in the centre of the Village.  With sheer luxury, super comfy and amazingly spacious apartments fitted out with nothing but the best.  We couldn’t wait for the building to be completed so we could move in and welcome our guests.

So it was we left our jobs, our old home and friends in Dunedin and headed north to begin our new venture. Our son Andrew and his partner Fiona helped us out immensely in our first year before moving on themselves, although they continue to be there when we take a few days to head off somewhere. Our daughter Becky still lives in Dunedin although she continues to come and stay with us when she can; usually helping out when she is here also.

The move to Hanmer also brought with it the chance for both of us to follow one or two of our hobbies.  Bryan enjoys Hunting and Tramping and I myself am also a keen Tramper so what better place to live, although we do spend more time with guests than heading up the mountains but hey that is what we are here for, and that is a good hobby too, meeting new people.

Village Lake Apartments is made up of 9 x 2 Bedroom Apartments and 4 x 3 Bedroom Suites.  We have increased our occupancy dramatically since opening; often our weekends are booked out up to 3 weeks or more in advance.

We have been rated #1 on TripAdvisor in Hanmer Springs for quite some time now.  We love to read the reviews left by Guests on TripAdvisor, we feel that they speak from the heart and to this end we would like to encourage these reviews as they also give us an insight into their whole Village Lake Apartment experience.  If we need to do something better the reviews will reflect this enabling us to make any changes necessary, because as we always say the ‘comfort of our guests is our No 1 priority’, and this will always stand.
